In this paper we suggest how reasoning using \textit{enthymemes} -- rhetorical arguments -- can be a means not only of lexical disambiguation (as suggested by Pustejovsky (1998), but also a means of acquiring new concepts. We will introduce enthymematic reasoning in dialogue as it is presented in Breitholtz (2014), and Breitholtz & Cooper (2011). We will then analyse some examples of natural dialogue in terms of the inferences that may be drawn using enthymematic reasoning based on topoi in the resources of the dialogue participants. For our account we will use Type Theory with Records (TTR).
